Individuality

In Boundaries, we touched on the issue of what makes your who you are. In Diversity & Variation, we mentioned the natural tendency of the world to diversify. Everyone is virtually unique. Muster as much objectivity as you can. Can you see your unique qualities? Can you appreciate the unique qualities of others? What about your values? Do you value your own qualities and those of others?

"Do you ever think of your life as a story?"
What is your individuality? An important part of your individuality is your 'first person' perspective of your whole life. Individuality is not only who you are by yourself ~ it includes your context, how you fit into your world.

How do you express yourself when you are with good friends? What about when you are with family? How do you behave with people you don't like? What about when you are away in unfamiliar places with strangers? Context is important to your expression of your individuality. This includes how you form relationships and how you change.

How strong is your individuality? An important part of individuality is how you fit into your various groups. Are you content to just add your energy to the existing group without demanding something more than group safety in return? Or do you insist that the group acknowledge, incorporate and express your own personal convictions and values if they want to have you as a member?
